The Ribbon, home to the W Hotel Sydney, is an iconic architectural landmark reshaping Sydney's Darling Harbour skyline. Its distinctive ribbon-like form and sculpted façade create a visually striking presence while accommodating a world-class luxury hotel, hospitality venues, and public space activation. Designed with complex curves and non-linear geometry, the building required innovative and highly customised access solutions to support ongoing façade and rooftop maintenance for this uniquely engineered structure.

Karabiner proudly designed, supplied, and installed a customised Building Maintenance Unit (BMU) specifically engineered to suit the Ribbon's unique architectural shape and operational requirements. In addition to the BMU, Karabiner delivered a comprehensive height safety system including walkways, rigid rail, engineered anchor points, static lines, and roof jockeys ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient access across multiple roof levels and façade zones. These tailored solutions enable maintenance personnel to safely access challenging curved surfaces and high-exposure edges, supporting long-term asset maintenance while preserving the architectural integrity of the structure.
