The New Sydney Fish Market at Blackwattle Bay is a landmark redevelopment turning the precinct into a working seafood market, dining and public waterfront destination. Its most recognisable feature is a large sculptural roof that shelters the market halls and public spaces below.
The challenge
That roof and the façade around it are the reason the building looks the way it does, and they are also the parts crews will need to reach for cleaning and servicing. Access had to suit an unusual roof form and allow both light inspection work and heavier servicing without getting in the way of a busy public building.
What we delivered
Karabiner designed, supplied and installed bespoke height safety and façade access systems tailored to the building, including anchor points, static lines and walkways. The systems were engineered to give maintenance teams comprehensive access from ground level through to the roof, for both light and heavy servicing. It is the kind of work our height safety installation team handles across unusual roof geometry.
The result
