The John Hunter Hospital expansion is a major upgrade to one of regional NSW's busiest tertiary referral hospitals, adding new clinical spaces, upgraded infrastructure and modern building services to meet growing demand.
The challenge
The hardest part is that the hospital stays fully operational throughout. Access for construction and long-term maintenance had to be delivered across multiple new roof structures without disrupting live clinical environments, and it had to keep working once the new facilities are in daily use.
What we delivered
Karabiner designed, supplied and installed comprehensive height safety and access systems across multiple new roof structures as part of the expansion. The systems give secure, efficient access to critical rooftop areas through construction and into long-term operation. Our height safety installation team plans this kind of work around live sites, backed by certification and audit to keep it compliant over time.
The result
The upgraded hospital is safer and easier to maintain, with rooftop access engineered in and no disruption to the delivery of critical healthcare. Maintaining access on a live, operating site? Talk to our team.
