Powerhouse Parramatta is a landmark cultural project and the first major museum to be purpose-built in Western Sydney. Designed to host world-class exhibitions and large-scale installations, the museum features expansive gallery spaces and flexible presentation zones, requiring specialised access solutions to support ongoing maintenance and integrated artwork display.
Karabiner proudly designed, supplied, and installed two customised Building Maintenance Units (BMUs) engineered to suit the unique architectural form and extensive façade requirements of Powerhouse Parramatta. In addition to the BMUs, Karabiner installed a BOMAC rail system specifically to support the safe suspension, movement, and maintenance of large-scale artworks within the museum, enabling curatorial flexibility for future exhibitions.
Karabiner were engaged to design, supply and install BMUs at Powerhouse Parramatta and were engaged during construction to complete multiple additional scopes via rope access.
Scopes were completed assisting construction of structural elements, façade elements, water proofing and providing access via anchor points and roof jockey units. Our teams worked independently and alongside a number of other major subcontractors to learn and complete work inaccessible by other means safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
